Hey guys! My name is Rachel and I live in Westerville, Ohio. I am a non-denominational Christian and have been walking with God for about 3 years. I did not grow up in a Christian home, but I am so thankful that I have come into a saving relationship with God and for the people I have been blessed with! I am SO excited to go on this trip with all of you! I feel strongly that God been calling me into the mission field overseas. I have never been out of the country and i'm really excited to be immersed into another culture and to serve the people of Swaziland.
So….a little about myself?
I'm a junior in high school, i'll be turning 17 in April before the trip.
I have a job (at a local grocery store) which takes up a lot of my time…it's quite unfortunate.
Outside of school/work I spend a lot of time with my homechurch and hanging out with my friends.
I play the piano and the cello and i'm really into art.
I'd say that i'm a pretty laid back person and I love having deep conversations.
I'm really liberal and like to have my own sense of style.
I love physics and I geek-out about it all the time. Weird? Yes.
I like to take naps and watch the cooking channel. hahaha i'm sure you needed to know that.
I wish I could sing. Hmph.
I love indie folk/alternative music…but my music taste is pretty diverse. I LOOOVE dancing to Lady Gaga. Don't judge.
I love summertime, riding rollercoasters, driving fast, hiking, gnomes, Jane Austen, space heaters, egg rolls, the Twilight Zone, Disney World (best place ever.) and Jesus OF COURSE.
When I graduate high school I want to go to college and major in International Studies or study Comparative World Religion with a Piano performance minor. But we'll see what God has in store for me. 🙂 I would love to be a missionary in Tailand or India to help women out of the sex-trafficking industry.
Last summer i went on another mission trip with my church to an Indian reservation in Michigan and the summer before that I went to Mississippi for Katrina relief. God has taught me SO MUCH through these experiences and I cannot wait to see what He will teach me this summer. I never knew what a joy it is to serve people before I became a Christian. I am very much looking forward to getting to know all of you and to grow with you as my sisters and brothers in Christ. Let me know if you have any prayer requests 🙂
